    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Feb. 24 -- Federal-Mogul
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dick Snell announces the appointment of
Gordon A. Ulsh to the position of president and chief operating officer,
effective immediately. Ulsh will lead a structure that closely integrates the
operating units of Powertrain Systems, Sealing Systems, General Products, and

aftermarket marketing, selling and distribution efforts.
"Gordon's in-depth automotive experience, insightful leadership and strong
drive toward continuous improvement will strengthen and keep Federal-Mogul in
the hearts and minds of our customers," said Snell. "This new operating
structure closely ties all of the functions from engineering through
manufacturing to delivery to the ultimate customer, no matter the customer
channel. Improving our time to market, being more responsive to customer
requirements and continuing our progress toward our synergy targets remain a
priority."
Ulsh, 52, joined the leadership team at Federal-Mogul in October 1998 as
executive vice president, worldwide aftermarket, following the acquisition of
Cooper Industries automotive businesses.
"I'm thrilled to be part of a dynamic automotive company that is forging
new ground," said Ulsh. "To be able to contribute on a higher level is truly
exciting. A key element to our continued success is the drive to be more
responsive to the customer. I'm confident of our ability to improve the
operational efficiencies of the business in the eyes of the customer."
Prior to Federal-Mogul, Ulsh was vice president of Cooper Industries
responsible for the automotive products segment. Before March 1997, he had
been president of the Cooper Automotive Division, vice president of the Cooper
Automotive Operations -- North America, and vice president and general manager
of Cooper's Wagner Lighting operations. Ulsh joined Wagner in 1984 as vice
president of operations, following 16 years in manufacturing and engineering
management at Ford Motor Company.
Ulsh earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management from Butler
University. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and Society
