SDRC Receives Approximately $2M in Metaphase Orders from Tusas Aerospace Industries; Metaphase to Enable TAI to Expand its Overall Product Offerings

CINCINNATI--Feb. 23, 1999--SDRC , a leading provider of enterprise product development solutions worldwide, today announced that Tusas Aerospace Industries (TAI) has placed new orders for SDRC's market-leading Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM) product data management (PDM) software and related services. The value of the orders is approximately $2 million.
TAI is the principal aerospace manufacturer in Turkey. The company manufactures the F-16 Fighting Falcon with Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems, the Cougar AS-532 Helicopter with Eurocopter, and wing flaps and ailerons for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
"Managing and transporting data throughout our enterprise is critical," said Aydin Oniz, materials director, TAI. "As we extend from production-line military manufacturing to include more commercial projects -- for example, product design and manufacturing requirements for the Boeing airplanes used by Turkish Airlines -- we will require greater versatility to meet customer needs. By using Metaphase to provide a single source of product data, we will be able to streamline our processes to meet these demands."
TAI will use Metaphase Enterprise to expand its manufacturing processes to include a broader range of military and civilian aircraft, and aircraft subsystems. The software will be used to manage data and product configurations for all of TAI's products and to enable TAI to exchange product data with its principal customers, many of whom, such as Boeing and Lockheed Martin, also use Metaphase Enterprise.
"In partnering with aerospace companies worldwide to meet both civilian and military aircraft demands, TAI requires a system that can manage multiple sets of standards and extensive parts data," said Robert Nierman, executive vice president and chief operating officer, SDRC. "Metaphase will enable TAI to share data among varying applications and across geographically dispersed sites in order to meet these requirements."
