New Environmental/Safety Training Guides for Shop Mechanics and Technicians

    FINDLAY, Ohio--(AutomotiveWire)--Feb. 16, 1999--Environmental Development Corp. (EDC) is introducing two new environmental and safety training/awareness guides for shop mechanics and technicians.
    The 40-page, self-study guides provide a quick and easy way to administer and document training for shop mechanics and technicians working in vehicle/equipment maintenance facilities.
    The guides, based on EDC's 400-page manager's guides, cover EPA and OSHA rules and recommended practices. Each guide includes optional pre- and post-tests that may be administered by the facility manager or instructor.
    The Shop Environmental Training & Awareness Guide includes an introduction to basic environmental practices, employee right-to-know, hazardous wastes, used oil/filters/absorbents, wastewater, spill control, storage tanks and containers, solid-waste recycling, mobile air-conditioner servicing, parts cleaning, antifreeze recycling, fuels and refueling, emission controls, and paint and body shop.
    The Shop Safety Training & Awareness Guide covers emergency planning, good housekeeping, first aid, hazard communications, personal protective equipment, electrical safety, lockout/tagout, machine hazards/guarding, automotive lifts, bench grinders, air compressors, radiators and coolants, parts cleaning, refrigerants, carbon monoxide/diesel exhaust, storage and handling of batteries, tire repair, brake and clutch work, power and hand tools, torch cutting and welding, material storage, paint and body shop and safe refueling.
