3D Systems Signs Third Partner for Proprietary 3D Keltool Technology; Broad Deployment Continues for Company's Innovative Moldmaking Process
VALENCIA, Calif.--Feb. 16, 1999--3D Systems Corp. Tuesday announced that it has granted another license for its proprietary tooling technology solution, 3D Keltool, to a subsidiary of St. Paul, Minn.-based Rapid Design Technology (RDT). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Along with the license, a newly created RDT subsidiary, Rapid Tooling Technology, will acquire 3D Systems' St. Paul facility to offer tooling services and consultation. RDT's new venture extends an association with the company that dates back two years, when it became a reseller of 3D Systems' office concept modeler.
"We are delighted to deliver added value to RDT," said Charles Wilson, vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. "With the growth of our 3D Keltool program, we have followed our strategy to focus on research and development and offer more complete solutions to our customers.
"3D Systems will act as a liaison between our Keltool partners and our installed systems base -- to foster collaboration between the two, and expand the range of options available to our customers."
Wilson indicated that 3D Systems would continue to operate its 3D Keltool facility in Valencia. That location serves as the nerve center for 3D Keltool R&D and training, as well as producing benchmark inserts for prospective partners and for on-site customer visits.
"Interest in 3D Keltool is growing, and we intend to build our business worldwide," Wilson said. "The technology enhances the competitive position of moldmakers by bringing a fast, accurate, versatile and cost-effective solution to tooling. And with respect to customers, 3D Keltool offers a revolutionary process to meet their ever-increasing time-to-market, competition and productivity challenges."

About 3D Systems
3D Systems provides solid imaging products and services that allow users to move quickly from three-dimensional designs to finished parts, at a significantly lower cost and higher quality than more traditional methods.
The company's systems, through patented stereolithography and 3-D printing technologies, fabricate solid objects from digital input. This process substantially reduces the time and cost of product development, resulting in shorter time to manufacturing and time to market. Based in Valencia, 3D Systems was founded in 1986, and is recognized as the world leader in solid imaging.
