Donor Turnout Surpasses Expectations at the Chicago Auto ShowCHICAGO, Feb. 12 -- The LifeSource Donor Coach is not the latest model vehicle on the floor of Chicago Auto Show, but show goers are flocking to the display featuring Saturn's National Donor Day. While there, they are meeting actual transplant recipients and representatives of the Regional Organ Bank of Illinois (ROBI) and signing organ donor cards. The Saturn-supported Hendrick Fund of the Marrow Foundation is providing testing for potential marrow donors to become a part of the National Marrow Donor Program. Whole blood donations are triple initial expectations and people are pledging whole blood and platelet donations for a future date at LifeSource donor centers and blood drives. Tomorrow, Feb. 13, is the official Saturn Donor Day. As car shoppers across the country participate in similar drives with Saturn retailers, donors in Chicago will be donating at the first-ever blood drive within an auto show -- the 91st Annual Chicago Auto Show. All Chicago-area Saturn retailers will promote National Donor Day tomorrow and actual blood drives are planned for Saturn of Chicago, Libertyville and South Holland. LifeSource Blood Services, Illinois' largest non-profit blood center, provides blood and blood products to the greater metropolitan Chicagoland area.
