ZAP Receives 1000 Scooter Order from CSW Total EV
    SEBASTOPOL, Calif., Feb. 9 -- Electric vehicle manufacturer
ZAP Power Systems (OTC Bulletin Board: ZAPP) announced today that it has
received an order for 1,000 electric scooters from CSW Total EV, a subsidiary
of Central & South West Corporation.
    Since the scooter first went into production in March of 1998, ZAP has
shipped over 4000 units.  ZAP recently received patent # 5,848,660 for the
ZAPPY.  The ZAPPY is a stand-up, electric push scooter with a folding
handlebar to allow for easy storage or carrying.  It travels up to 13 miles
per hour.  The ZAPPY retails for $649.
    ZAP says it is selling its new scooters and electric bicycles in record
numbers, and also announced that in January it began shipping ZAPPY to a
distributor in South America.
    CSW Total EV received regulatory approval from the Securities and Exchange
Commission to sell electric bikes and scooters in August, 1998 and is ZAP's
distributor to an eight state territory of the United States, including Texas,
Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas and Missouri.
