Raytech Corporation Completes Certification of 100% of Manufacturing Facilities Worldwide
SHELTON, Conn.--Feb. 8, 1999--Raytech Corporation announces that Allomatic Products Company, Automotive Composites Company and Advanced Friction Materials Company
all have received QS 9000 AND ISO 9002 Certification
Raytech Corporation announces that three more of its subsidiaries have achieved ISO certification. Allomatic Products Company's ("APC"), Sullivan, Indiana, production and distribution operations recently received official certification for ISO 9002 (No. 99.021.1), the validation of quality management systems employed by APC. Advanced Friction Materials Company's ("AFM") and Automotive Composites Company's ("ACC"), both located in Sterling Heights, Michigan, design and production operations received official certification for QS 9000 (No. 62711.2), the validation of quality management systems required to do business with the Big Three automakers.
Commenting on the subsidiaries' certifications, Albert A. Canosa, Raytech's President and Chief Executive Officer said, "I am pleased that our employees have been recognized for the quality work that they do. These certifications are another example of our strong commitment to our customers within their respective markets. The certification of these three facilities achieves our corporate goal that all Raytech Corporation's manufacturing facilities obtain QS 9000 and/or ISO 9002 certification as applicable. The worldwide Raytech quality has been certified at locations in the United States, Great Britain, Germany and China. I am very proud to be a part of the high recognition these certifications bring to Raytech Corporation."
These prestigious certifications further demonstrate the commitment to world class excellence in both the quality of products produced and the overall quality management systems utilized throughout Raytech Corporation.
The QS 9000 requirements replace the individual quality requirements formerly used by each of the Big Three automakers, instead blending them into one overall system. They apply to companies who directly supply the Big Three and the major truck manufacturers.
The QS 9000 requires suppliers not only to control their own quality processes but also those of their own vendors, the lower-tier suppliers. The requirements also affect companies supplying services to the Big Three and the truck manufacturers, such as construction companies who build their factories or distribution centers.
QS 9000 was based upon an extension of the widely accepted international ISO 9000 standards, with many additional criteria to reflect the auto industry's special needs.
APC's entire quality system was audited and certified by Smithers Quality Assessments, Inc. (QSA), a leading independent accredited registrar.
APC specializes in the manufacture and distribution of automotive powertrain products and related components to the automotive aftermarket, including friction clutches, bands, filters, steel reaction plates, and rebuilt modules and kits.
AFM's and ACC's entire quality system was audited and certified by NSF International Strategic Registrations, Ltd., a leading independent accredited registrar.
ACC and AFM manufacture and sell, respectively, wet friction products, including friction clutches and transmission bands, to the automotive original equipment market. Its major customers include Daimler-Chrysler and General Motors.
