ADP Unveils PartScan; Bar Code System Transforms Parts Departments

SAN FRANCISCO--Feb. 6, 1999--The Dealer Services Group of ADP(R), Inc., a leading provider of integrated business computing solutions to automobile and truck dealers, today introduced PartScan(tm), a flexible bar code scanning and printing system designed to increase parts department productivity and improve inventory accuracy.
PartScan is available in multiple package options, from a basic wired system to the deluxe roaming wireless scanner. Each option gives the user the power of PartScan's receiving and physical inventory functions, while providing the right level of mobility. Portable and desktop bar code printers enable users to label bins, shelves, or parts that may not be coded. Additionally, when the demands of an annual physical inventory require additional scanning hardware, dealers can choose to take advantage of ADP's unique scanner rental program.
"Our customers told us they wanted flexibility, a quick return on their investment, but not another personal computer. That's what PartScan delivers," said John Gray, senior vice president of development and technology for ADP Dealer Services.
Easy to operate, and integrated with the dealer's existing ADP system, PartScan can be used with bar-coded parts currently supplied by manufacturers such as General Motors, Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Acura and Volvo. In the future, dealers selling bar-coded parts supplied by DaimlerChrysler and other manufacturers will also benefit from the power of PartScan.
