ADP Boosts Performance of Millennia3 Dealer Business System
SAN FRANCISCO--Feb. 6, 1999--At 50% faster, new UNIX and NT-based S2 models offer
superior throughput
The Dealer Services Group of Automatic Data Processing, Inc., , a leading provider of integrated business computing solutions to automobile and truck dealers, today announced enhancements to its popular Millennia3(tm) platform featuring significant speed and memory improvements.
Millennia3 platforms are built using Compaq Computer Corporation's AlphaServer technology, which supports either UNIX or Windows(R) NT, and is the highest throughput platform of any dealer business system. ADP(R) is committed to open systems solutions based upon this proven scalable computer technologies. Like all current ADP platforms, the new Millennia3 S2 series are Y2K Ready.
"By enhancing the overall performance of our Millennia3 product we're delivering even more value to the nation's automobile and truck dealers," said John Gray, senior vice president, development and technology for ADP Dealer Services.
With its 500 MHz processor, the Millennia3-9200 S2 platform is 50 percent faster than its predecessor. It handles up to 500 user connections, is expandable to 2GB RAM and 36GB of storage, and it features an internal 2GB tape drive for backups. The new Millennia3-9300 S2 supports more than 2,300 user connections and features a 600 MHz processor for even faster throughput. It is expandable to 8GB of RAM and 54GB of storage. It also includes two, 2GB tape drive units for data loading and backup. In addition, ADP announced a processor upgrade for dealers using existing Millennia3-9300s.
"Once again, we are protecting the dealer's investment in technology by ensuring their systems can grow with their business needs -- without replacing hardware," said Gray.
The new Millennia3-9300 S2 also features a new 50GB Advanced Intelligence Tape (AIT) with data backup speed of 6MB/second, which is three times faster than conventional backup systems. Most backups can be contained on a single 50GB tape cartridge. AIT is available as an upgrade to Millennia3-9200 S2 models and to existing Millennia3-9300 models.
