Reynolds and Reynolds Introduces Integrated Network and ``Net'' Solutions for Automotive Retailers

    DAYTON, Ohio--Feb. 6, 1999--

Services Stemming From Business Relationship With MCI WorldCom
    Expand Reynolds' Performance Path(TM) Solutions

The Reynolds and Reynolds Company today introduced its new integrated network and Internet solutions product family at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Annual Convention in San Francisco.
A result of its business relationship with MCI WorldCom, the new network and consulting services were introduced as part of Reynolds' Performance Path(TM), a unique suite of solutions that gives auto retailers access to new sources of information, partnerships and opportunities.
"This new solutions package combines state-of-the-art technology from global communications giant MCI WorldCom with Reynolds' extensive knowledge of automotive retailers to offer complete dealership solutions," said Kurt Lieberman, group vice president of Reynolds' New Solutions Group. "Reynolds now provides a single point of contact for network hardware, software, telecommunications and service support."
Reynolds' new network and consulting services include: Network Consulting; Data Services, featuring the Network Protection Program; and Internet Design Services.
Network Consulting: In response to automotive retailing networks' constant growth in size and complexity, Reynolds now provides expert network design and consulting for today's fast-moving automotive retailer.
A typical auto-retailing network is a rapidly changing collection of technologies, such as NT, UNIX, Ethernet and satellite systems, all connected by complex data networks. Reynolds provides professional, solutions-focused technical experts to help automotive organizations stay ahead of the curve in data communications and networking. Reynolds' Network Consulting services are designed to provide highly skilled technical teams to meet retailers' business needs.
The consulting teams are able to deliver high performance solutions to meet a dealer's needs using the latest technology, including local area networks (LANs), campus networks, wide area networks (WANs), Ethernet and fast Ethernet, optical networks, TCP/IP, inter-networking, SNA, SNA/IP, switching and layer 3 switching.
"Reynolds is uniquely capable of helping dealers with their network needs. We have the automotive expertise, a well-respected technical team, and the support of MCI WorldCom," Lieberman said.
Data Services: By having Reynolds serve as the single contact for all of their network communications and support, dealers can eliminate the finger pointing between providers that often occurs when problems arise. With this program, Reynolds also ensures a dealer's network always has the most up-to-date technology with no replacement charges. Data Services includes:
-- A single source for telecommunications support.
-- No up-front hardware charges.
-- Technology obsolescence protection.
-- Free software upgrades.

"Data Services provides automotive retailers with a highly cost-effective solution for managing their dealership networks," said Lieberman. "This program provides dealers a more reliable and powerful computing and telecommunications environment."
Internet Design Services: Reynolds' Internet Design Services provide analysis and customized Internet access based on specific dealership needs, and are geared to enhance dealership presence and improve productivity. These services help dealers choose among the many capabilities and access methods including bypassing local Internet Service Provider gateways to provide high-speed, reliable and secure access directly to the Internet. Dealerships can utilize e-mail, database searching and browsing, World Wide Web, public database hypertext searching, and can access Usenet network news groups.
"Backed by our partnership with MCI WorldCom, Reynolds' Internet Design Services bring dealers one of the fastest and largest Internet gateways available in the world," said Lieberman. "These ensure a dealer doesn't have an accident along the Information Superhighway."
