C.W. Thaxton Named President and C.E.O. of Hyundai Motor Finance Company

    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Feb. 5 -- Veteran automotive finance
executive C.W. (Bill) Thaxton has been named president and chief executive
officer of Hyundai Motor Finance Company.
    During his 29-year career in the automotive finance field, Thaxton has
held executive positions with several major prime and non-prime auto lenders
and lessors.  Most recently, he was senior vice president of WFS Financial in
Irvine, Calif.  Previously, he was president of Omni Financial, ProCredit and
YES Financial.  He has also held key management positions with Nissan Motor
Acceptance Corp., Security Pacific, Citicorp and General Electric.  He earned
his business management degree at West Virginia University.
    Thaxton lives with his wife and family in Capistrano Beach, Calif.
    Hyundai Motor Finance Co. and Hyundai Motor America, headquartered in
Fountain Valley, Calif., are subsidiaries of Hyundai Motor Co. of Korea.
Hyundai Motor Finance Co. provides consumer loans, leases and wholesale dealer
inventory financing.  Hyundai cars are distributed throughout the United
States by Hyundai Motor America and are sold and service through nearly
500 dealerships nationwide.
