Breed Technologies CEO to Address SAE LuncheonWARRENDALE, Pa., Feb. 4 -- Johnnie Cordell Breed, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Breed Technologies, will speak on "New Challenges in an Evolving Market" at the Engineering/Management Symposium Luncheon March 3 in Cobo Center, Detroit, Michigan. The luncheon is a special event at the 1999 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International Congress & Exposition that takes place March 1-4 at the Cobo Center, Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Breed joined Breed Technologies in 1987 as its chief financial officer and was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in 1995. She became Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 1997 and assumed the role of Chairman in March, 1998. She played a key role in Breed's move to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange in 1992. Her expertise in business administration has contributed greatly to Breed's growth as one of the world's leading automotive occupant safety suppliers. Mrs. Breed began her business career as a systems analyst for NCR. In 1982, she founded GTS, Inc., a company she still heads today. As a primary transportation supplier for the U.S. Department of Defense, GTS became Mrs. Breed's first major entrepreneurial success. She is also a member of the Sales & Marketing Executives International (SMEI) Academy of Achievement Hall of Fame. She has received honorary degrees from both Northwestern University and the Columbia College for Women. The Engineering/Management Symposium Luncheon is planned by the SAE Women Engineers Committee and is sponsored by Information Handling Services, Denver, Colorado. The SAE Congress is the world's largest showcase of automotive engineering technologies.
