The Quantum Group Inc. Joins First Rubber Pavements Association International Symposium; Quantum President to Profile Rubber Recycling in Europe

TUSTIN, Calif.--Feb. 4, 1999--The Quantum Group Inc. (OTC BB: QTMG), a leading global recycler of used automobile and truck tires, will participate in the first international symposium of the Rubber Pavements Association in the use of scrap rubber tire in asphalt pavements on February 3 and 4 in Tempe, Ariz., it was announced Thursday by Ehrenfried Liebich, Quantum's president and chief executive officer.
Liebich will address participants from 17 countries on his company's rapidly-expanding ability to reduce the worldwide glut of scrap tires through deconstruction and revulcanization, using Quantum's patented Revulcon(r) process, resulting in crumb rubber for asphalt paving and new tires, and many value-added marketable products.
The Quantum Group has a multi-million dollar order backlog for its proprietary machinery and technology and is currently constructing a state-of-the-art production facility in Penkun, near Berlin, Germany, which is scheduled to go on line later this year.
In addition to representatives from South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Switzerland, Spain, Ecuador, Mexico, Austria, Scotland, Portugal, Germany, Greece, Canada, Great Britain, The Netherlands, Belgium, and the United States, agencies attending include the Federal Highway Administration, Arizona Department of Transportation, Caltrans, and the City of Phoenix. Universities represented include Arizona State University, Oregon State University, the University of Nevada at Reno, and the University of California at Berkeley.
The Quantum Group converts previously wasted rubber truck and automobile tires, without adding chemicals or additives, into valuable, marketable new products for industrial and commercial use.
The Quantum Group uses a patented reactivation process, exclusively marketed by the company, that changes rubber scrap, previously burned or landfilled, into Revulcon(r). Revulcon(r) becomes a partially devulcanized crumb rubber material suitable for a vast number of product applications, including incorporation into new tire manufacture. This exclusive, patented process will also enable The Quantum Group to be a potential supplier to the $70 billion (USD) worldwide tire manufacturing industry.
The Quantum Group presently has contracts in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Europe, and the Middle East.
The Quantum Group/Eurectec has headquarters at Park Irvine Business Center, 14771 Myford Road, Building B, Tustin, Calif. 82780. Telephone: 800/660-3734 and Fax: 714/508-1475. The company's Web site is http://www.thequantumgroupinc.com and E-mail address is info@thequantumgroupinc.com.
