Rush Enterprises, Inc. Announces the Addition of Harold D. Marshall to the Board of Directors
SAN ANTONIO--Feb. 4, 1999--Rush Enterprises, Inc. , operating the largest network of Peterbilt heavy-duty truck dealerships in North America, announced that Harold D. Marshall, 62, has been elected to the Company's Board of Directors, replacing Joseph Dunn who has retired.Mr. Marshall joins Rush after retiring as President and Chief Operating Officer of Associates First Capital Corporation .
In making the announcement, W. Marvin Rush, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Harold's 38-year record of leadership in growth, change and operational management will complement the knowledge base of our Board of Directors. His knowledge of the trucking industry will be of significant value in helping us accomplish our goals. I also wish to thank Joseph Dunn who provided invaluable leadership and direction while serving on our Board of Directors since 1996."
Mr. Marshall joined Associates in 1961 and founded the company's commercial finance operation, which is today the largest lender for over-the-road truck financing in the United States. Mr. Marshall helped Associates to become the largest publicly traded finance company in the United States, with more than $80 billion in managed finance receivables.
Mr. Marshall is a former member of the Board of Associates First Capital Corporation and of the University of Illinois at Chicago. He served as vice chairman of the American Trucking Association Foundation, Inc. (ATA) Board of Directors and as a member of the ATA Foundation Executive Committee.
Having grown up in Clayton, New York, Mr. Marshall attended the University of Florida at Gainesville. He and his wife, Margaret, are bi-city residents of Dallas and Chicago.
Rush Enterprises operates the largest network of Peterbilt heavy-duty truck dealerships in North America and John Deere construction equipment dealerships in Texas and Michigan. Its current operations include a network of heavy duty truck and construction equipment dealerships located in Texas, California, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Colorado and Michigan. These dealerships provide an integrated, one-stop source for the retail sale of new and used heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment; aftermarket parts, service and body shop facilities; and a wide array of financial services, including the financing of truck and equipment sales, insurance products and full-service leasing and rentals. In 1998, Rush Enterprises acquired D&D Farm and Ranch Supermarket, Inc., which operates a retail farm and ranch superstore serving the greater San Antonio, Texas area.
