Nissan Reports January Sales; Total Truck Sales Up 11.3 PercentCARSON, Calif., Feb. 2 -- The Nissan Division of Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA), reported total sales of 37,098 units in the month of January. Nissan's entire truck line continued on a strong note, which combined, saw an 11.3 percent increase in sales versus last year. The Frontier pick-up truck posted sales of 5,391 units, an increase of 13 percent versus the previous year. Leading the truck lineup in total sales was the popular Nissan Pathfinder, which posted sales of 5,482 units. Rounding off the truck line was the Nissan Quest, which posted sales of 3,250 units, a 73.1 percent increase over the previous year. Nissan's car line had a combined total sales volume of 22,975, down 6.3 percent versus the previous year. The Nissan Sentra posted a gain over last year, reporting sales of 4,551 units, an increase of 1.9 percent. Nissan's volume leading Altima had sales of 10,899 units, an increase of 0.6 percent versus last year. The Maxima, Nissan's flagship sedan posted sales of 6,883 units. "While Nissan's January sales were basically flat versus the previous year, we did have a 5 percent increase in retail sales while maintaining our discipline of not buying the market through increased incentives, captive finance leases or increased fleet sales," said Michael Seergy, Vice President and General Manager, Nissan Division. "This will help us grow throughout the year, a year where we'll see an unprecedented number of great new products enter the market for Nissan." Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for January totaled 24,617 units, which represents 66.4 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the United States. Total NMC sales for January, including Nissan and Infiniti Divisions, were 41,017 units, an increase of 0.1 percent versus the previous year.
