Land Rover Reports January 1999 Sales

    LANHAM, Md., Feb. 2 -- Land Rover North America, Inc. today
reported January 1999 sales of 1790 units, the second strongest January in
company history.
    Howard Mosher, Executive Vice-President, Operations, Land Rover North
America, said, "Our January sales results are excellent, with our best January
ever for Range Rover. We are optimistic that demand will remain high,
especially as we increase supply and phase-in our all-new Discovery Series II
model."
