Exide Announces Third-Quarter Cash Dividend

    READING, Pa., Feb. 1 -- Members of the Exide Corporation
Board of Directors have voted a corporate cash dividend of $.02
(two cents) per share of common stock payable March 4, 1999, to shareholders
of record on February 22, 1999.
