Oldsmobile Scramble National Finals Return to Walt Disney World
    COLDWATER, Mich., Jan. 29 -- The Oldsmobile Scramble National
Finals will be returning to the Walt Disney World Resort in 1999.  After a
successful year in Las Vegas in 1998, the return to Florida will mark the 14th
time in the tournament's 16 year history that Lake Buena Vista will serve host
to the World's Largest Amateur Golf Tournament.
    The 1999 Oldsmobile Scramble National Finals will take place on four Walt
Disney World golf courses -- Palm, Magnolia, Eagle Pines and Lake Buena Vista.
Two off-property courses, Celebration and Falcon's Fire, will also serve as
host courses for the 300 teams from across the United States.  The 72-hole
stroke play tournament will begin on Wednesday, October 6 and conclude on
Sunday, October 10.  Following the third round on Friday, October 8, a cut
will be made to the low 24 teams in both the Net and Gross Divisions.  The
final round will be held on October 10, with teams not qualifying for the
final round competing in an 18-hole putting competition.
    According to Oldsmobile's General Marketing Manager, Karen Francis,

six excellent golf courses and the warm fall temperatures, amateur golfers
fortunate enough to make the 16th Oldsmobile Scramble National Finals will be
treated to one of the best golfing experiences of their lifetimes."

    Amateur golfers from across the country have raved over the first-class
Disney service and the family centered activities available in Orlando that
adds to the overall golfing experience.
    More than 1.5 million golfers have participated in an Oldsmobile Scramble
local tournament since its inception in 1984.  More than 2,100 local
tournaments are held each year in 48 states.  Local winners advance to one of
the 150 Sectional Championships with two teams advancing from Sectional
competition (Net and Gross Division) to the National Finals.
