Mercedes-Benz CEO To Address National Automobile Dealers

1 February 1999

Mercedes-Benz of North America Chief Executive Jackson To Address National Automobile Dealers Convention
WASHINGTON, Jan. 29 -- Former dealer and current
Mercedes-Benz of North America President and CEO Mike Jackson will deliver the
keynote address at the opening session of the 1999 National Automobile Dealers
Association Convention in San Francisco, Feb. 6.
As president and CEO, Jackson heads all Mercedes' U.S. operations. He is
the first American named to that position. He began his automotive career in
1971 when he joined Cherry Hill Motors in New Jersey as a service technician.
Jackson worked in a wide range of positions in the retail auto business at
several dealerships, and for five years was a Mercedes-Benz district manager
and field service manager. Jackson went on to become executive vice president,
general manager and partner of Euro Motor Cars in Bethesda, Md., and served as
chairman of the Mercedes-Benz National Dealer Council.
"As a former dealer, Mike is able to address the important issues on the
minds of NADA members," said NADA Chairman Paul Holloway. "He'll speak a
language that dealers understand. His forthright observations on today's auto
retailing environment will make for an excellent address."
DaimlerChrysler Co-Chairman Juergen Schrempp was scheduled to speak but is
unavailable due to a schedule change.
The 1999 NADA Convention runs Feb. 6-9 at San Francisco's Moscone
Convention Center and the Bob Graham Civic Auditorium. Approximately 25,000
attendees are expected for the event that features seminars, meetings with
manufacturers and more than 400 exhibitors covering approximately 250,000
square feet.
NADA represents more than 19,500 franchised new-car and truck dealers
holding nearly 40,000 separate franchises, domestic and import.
