Sequa Elects Stephen Schaus Vice President, Operational Excellence
NEW YORK--Jan. 28, 1999--The board of directors of Sequa Corporation today elected Stephen J. Schaus to the newly created post of vice president, operational excellence.
A forward-looking executive with strong analytical skills and broad-based industry experience, Schaus has been a consultant to Sequa for several years. In the course of discrete assignments, he has focused on enhancing the company's production processes and optimizing the design of its manufacturing facilities. In his new role, Schaus, 45, adds responsibility for launching a Six Sigma quality initiative intended to raise the overall level of product and service performance and improve the competitive posture of operations serving a wide array of markets.
A former partner at Andersen Consulting (1989-1994), Schaus began his career as a staff consultant in the firm's manufacturing practice. Most recently, he was president of Operations Improvement Consulting, an independent management consulting firm he started in 1994. Schaus is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, where he received both his undergraduate degree (BS, 1975) and his graduate degree (MBA, 1979).
Sequa Corporation is a diversified, technology-driven manufacturer whose operations cross a wide range of markets.
