  Maumee, Ohio-Based Lathrop Seeks To Better Serve Automotive and Industrial
           Clients in Greater Detroit And Southeast Michigan Areas

    DETROIT, Jan. 28 -- The Lathrop Company, a wholly owned
subsidiary of Turner Construction Company, is opening a Detroit office in
early February 1999.  Turner Construction Company is the principal subsidiary
of The Turner Corporation , the nation's leading general builder.
    Based in Maumee, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo, The Lathrop Company is a
leading provider of automotive and industrial contracting services in the
Midwest.  These services include design/build, construction management,
program management, and general contracting.  For the year ended December 31,
1998, Lathrop and its subsidiaries completed in excess of $200 million of
construction.
    According to Chuck Engler, manager of Lathrop's Detroit office:  "We are
pleased to open this office in Detroit to better serve our current and future
automotive and industrial clients in the Greater Detroit and Southeast
Michigan areas.  Turner's Detroit office, which is celebrating its 25th
anniversary this year, has worked with clients in a variety of sectors,

    Current and recently completed projects for Lathrop include an automotive
plant expansion in Louisville, Kentucky, for Ford Motor Company, Dearborn,
Michigan; a diesel engine manufacturing plant in Moraine, Ohio, for DMAX, a
General Motors/Isuzu joint venture; a float glass plant in Geneva, New York,
for Guardian Glass, Auburn Hills, Michigan; and a portion of the Jeep Assembly
Plant in Toledo, Ohio, for Daimler Chrysler Corporation, Auburn Hills.
