    NASHVILLE, Tenn.--Jan. 28, 1999--Microphonics, (OTC BB:MRPS) through its Ultraphonics division, announced today it has received a blanket purchase order for ultrasound diagnostic equipment from General Motors Corp. . This blanket purchase order covers all 64 plants within General Motors' North American operation. On-Site training is beginning immediately and will continue throughout the year. The Ultraphonics division of Microphonics is at the forefront of both preventative and predictive maintenance within any industrial setting.
    Microphonics continues to be on the cutting edge of this new and exciting technology. The daily growth and the multiple use potential has placed our three divisions in the forefront of ultrasound diagnostics.
    Microphonics, founded by Jimmy Gayle in 1990, has assembled a unique trio of divisions that unite the company's ultrasound hardware with software applications. The Ultraphonics Division develops and markets the Ultraphonics Diagnostic Units to industrial clients. The Sound Logic Division develops software which both refines and elevates mechanical ultrasound to state-of-the-art technology.
