AAA Applauds Delta's Decision To Rescind Surcharge
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 26 -- AAA today said that it applauds
Delta Airlines' decision to rescind a surcharge it imposed earlier this month
on tickets not purchased on Delta's Web site.
"We believe that Delta has done the right thing," said Jack Mannix,
managing director of AAA Travel Related Services Marketing and Industry
Relations. "This demonstrates that they can and do listen and respond to the
concerns of others in the travel industry."
Last week, AAA criticized Delta for the surcharge saying it penalized
consumers and restricted their airline travel purchase choices. AAA believed
the surcharge amounted to nothing more than a fare hike for the vast majority
of consumers and would add confusion to an already complex process of
determining best available air fares.
AAA is a not-for-profit federation of 91 motor clubs with 1,100 offices
providing more than 41 million members in the United States and Canada travel,
insurance, financial and auto-related services.
