Strength in Auto Industry Drives SDRC Revenue
CINCINNATI--Jan. 25, 1999--SDRC , a leading provider of enterprise product development solutions worldwide, today announced that expanding automotive industry standardization on SDRC's market-leading Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM) software has helped dramatically accelerate its product data management revenue growth. This reflects SDRC's successful emphasis on providing enterprise solutions to global businesses interested in reducing product cost and cycle time while improving quality and accelerating time to market.Fourth quarter Metaphase license and service revenues were bolstered by approximately $10 million in automotive industry revenue from Ford Motor Company, Nissan, Renault, Daimler-Benz AG, and Mack Trucks, for example. These customers, along with others such as Visteon and Michelin Americas, accounted for almost $30 million of Metaphase revenue in 1998, contributing to a banner year for the market-leading Metaphase Enterprise software.
"SDRC's thrust into the automotive industry has been very evident over the past 12-18 months," said Charles Foundyller, president of Daratech, Inc. "Their proven ability to support the enterprise product process (EPP) is evidenced by their customers' success in the marketplace."
With competitive pressures to dramatically reduce the time from concept to showroom, companies in the automotive industry are in the forefront of Integrated Product Development. SDRC is uniquely positioned to meet and exceed automotive manufacturers' IPD requirements through its partnering approach to solving industry solutions, most clearly represented through the Ford Program Office. SDRC's 'master model' vision of providing integrated solutions has resulted in an award-winning suite of design automation software, I-DEAS(TM), and market-leading Metaphase(R) Enterprise(TM) Java-enabled PDM software -- products that provide an enterprise product development solutions environment to meet this industry's competitive drivers.
"We are pleased that our investment in new product enhancements and support has won the interest of so many top caliber manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive sector worldwide," said SDRC Chairman, President & CEO, Bill Weyand. "Led by our long-term relationships with industry leaders such as Ford, Nissan, Visteon, Mazda, Harley-Davidson, and others, we are now beginning to reach significantly into the supplier chain with supporting deployments in both design automation and product data management. These successes are reflected in our escalating revenues in this industry."
