Hertz Acquires Yello Truck German Van Franchise
PARK RIDGE, N.J., Jan. 25 -- The Hertz Corporation
announced that it has acquired Yello Truck, its largest van
franchise in central western Germany with 11 locations in the "Rhineland" area
for an undisclosed price. Yello Truck revenues for 1998 were $15.3 million.
The eleven locations will operate under the Hertz name although Hertz has
retained the Yello Truck brand name, which is itself well known in the van
market in Germany.
"Yello Truck is a natural fit for our German operation. It expands our
capabilities in the van market, increases the size of our network, which is
crucial to our plans in Germany, and is already well regarded as a successful
licensee," commented Charles Shafer, President of Hertz Europe.
"In addition we are very pleased that Hendrick Lehmbrock and Thomas
Pfisterer the two former partners in Yello Truck will remain with the acquired
company," continued Shafer.
Earlier, this year Hertz acquired SST, a major French franchisee with
14 rental locations in central and southeastern France including at airports
in Orleans and Clermont Ferrand. In 1998 SST had revenues of $4.4 million.
Hertz, the world's largest car rental company operates a fleet of 500,000
vehicles from more than 5,500 locations in over 140 countries.

Hertz rents Fords and other fine cars.
