Insilco Reports Unfavorable Decision in Antitrust Award
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 21 -- Insilco Holding Co.
(OTC BULLETIN BOARD: INSL) reported today, that as a result of a post-trial
motion, the $25.3 million judgment which its Taylor Publishing unit was
awarded by jury verdict in an antitrust lawsuit against Jostens, Inc., has
been set aside. Although the court found that "the evidence presented at the
trial was sufficient for the jury to conclude that (Jostens had) specific
intent" to monopolize the yearbook market, it expressed the opinion, in
contrast to the jury's finding, that Taylor had not demonstrated sufficient
predatory conduct by Jostens to be entitled to relief. The Company said that
it intends to vigorously appeal the decision and will seek to have the
favorable jury verdict reinstated.
Insilco Holding Co., based in suburban Columbus, Ohio, is a diversified
manufacturer of industrial components and a supplier of specialty
publications. The Company's industrial business units serve the automotive,
electronics, telecommunications and other industrial markets, and its
publishing business serves the school yearbook market. The Company had 1997
revenues in excess of $500 million.
