Timothy Manganello to Head BWA Powertrain Systems

Timothy Manganello to Head BWA Powertrain Systems; Mark Perlick Joins BWA-PTS As VP Engineering
    CHICAGO, Jan. 21 -- John F. Fiedler, chairman and chief
executive officer of Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc. , today named
Timothy Manganello president and general manager of the company's Powertrain
Systems (PTS) operating group.  Manganello succeeds Fred A. Kovalik who is
retiring March 1.
    Manganello has been with Borg-Warner Automotive for 10 years and most
recently served as vice president, operations of BWA-PTS's Muncie, Ind.,
facility.  During his career with BWA he has held positions of increasing
responsibility in the company's Morse TEC and Powertrain Systems operating
groups, in sales and marketing, business development and manufacturing.
Manganello holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in mechanical engineering from the
University of Michigan.
    Mark A. Perlick joins Borg-Warner Automotive Powertrain Systems from
General Motors where his most recent position was chief engineer for the
Continuously Variable Transmission.  Previous responsibilities at General
Motors included chief engineer of the Transmission Launch Center, chief
engineer for the GM 4T40E transmission and manager of production programs.  He
holds a B.S.M.E. from the General Motors Institute.
    Fred A. Kovalik joined Borg-Warner Automotive in 1994 following almost 30
years at Eaton Corporation.  The growth of four-wheel drive systems during his
tenure at Borg-Warner Automotive helped fuel the company's growth and success
following its initial public offering in 1993.
    Chicago-based Borg-Warner Automotive, Inc. is a product leader in highly
engineered components and systems primarily for automotive drivetrain
applications.  The company operates manufacturing facilities in 12 countries
serving automakers in North America, Europe and Asia.
