Federal-Mogul Appoints Bob Allsopp, Director, Technical, General Products

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 20 -- Frank Tomes, executive vice
president, General Products, Federal-Mogul Corporation , announces
the appointment of  Bob Allsopp to the position of  director, technical,
General Products, effective February 8, 1999.  Allsopp will report directly to
Tomes.
    Allsopp will have responsibility for coordinating the technical activities
of General Products.
    "We believe Bob is a tremendous addition to our team and greatly
strengthens the service we will be able to provide for our customers," said
Tomes.
    Prior to this appointment, Allsopp held the position of group director -
product technology and business development with UEF in the United Kingdom,
preceded by the position of managing director, GKN Technology, a position he
held for four years.  Prior to that, he held a number of engineering positions
with the Rover Group, culminating in the position of chief engineer, advanced
vehicle engineering.  Allsopp's career commenced as a technical apprentice
with Jaguar cars.
    Allsopp earned a Higher National Certificate in automotive engineering
from Coventry University in the United Kingdom.  He is also a member of the
Institute of Mechanical Engineers.
    Related to this appointment, David Whittaker will become special projects
coordinator within the General Products group.
