Tilden Associates Inc. Finalizes Acquisition; Expands to Over 50 Locations in 10 States


    GARDEN CITY, N.Y.--Jan. 20, 1999--Tilden Associates Inc. (OTC BB:TLDN) operating under the trade name of Tilden for Brakes Car Care Centers, Wednesday announced it finalized its acquisition of American Brake Service Inc. expanding its number of Car Care Center locations to over 50 in 10 states.
    American Brake Service based in Atlanta, operates 13 franchised brake and auto repair service centers in five states which will be integrated into Tilden with expanded services. American Brake Service is doing approximately $5 million in system wide sales bringing in over $250,000 in royalties for 1998 with additional locations currently under development and scheduled to open in the first quarter of 1999.
    "Tilden is in an aggressive growth mode and acquisitions like this as well as our recent agreement with FranNet Consultants to help open new franchises, is all part of our growth plans.     Tilden for Brakes Car Care Centers have served millions of automobile owners since the Tilden family founded the company in 1923. While Tilden initially built its reputation on brakes, all its units offer full auto servicing utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, including brakes, tune-ups, wheel alignment, shocks/struts, air conditioning, and other services, at a time when most niche repair shops are limited to specific auto repairs.
