Toyota Motor Insurance Services Selects Allenbrook's Phoenix System For Administration & Issuance Of Warranty Programs

LOWELL, Mass.--Jan. 18, 1999--In a unique industry alliance, Allenbrook, Inc. announced that Toyota Motor Insurance Services, Inc., of Torrance, Calif., has signed extensive agreements to install and implement Allenbrook's Phoenix Enterprise Insurance System. Under terms of the agreements, TMIS will deploy the Phoenix System as its mission-critical automation for administration and issuance of TMIS retail products and programs. Phoenix is Allenbrook's innovative client/server, Windows-based insurance policy administration solution for the property and casualty industry.
TMIS provides Vehicle Service Agreements (VSAs) that protects customers in the event of unexpected but necessary service/repair for mechanical failures after the factory warranty has expired. There are three levels of coverage with various term/mileage plans available and there is also a plan for certified used/pre-owned vehicles. Guaranteed Auto Protection (GAP) provides finance or lease customers protection against a deficiency balance if their vehicle is declared a total loss and helps put them in a position to get back into a new vehicle. TMIS also provides Prepaid Maintenance Programs available in several service intervals that provide for routine maintenance -- consisting of oil and filter changes, lubrication of key chassis parts and complete 19-point inspections -- at each service interval.
"Allenbrook's Phoenix System will help us change the way we do business by redefining and streamlining our products and programs in an increasingly service intensive and cost-conscious market," said Jane Beseda, Vice President and General Manager, Toyota Motor Insurance Services. "Our thorough and extensive automation evaluation process involved literally dozens of vendors from diverse business disciplines," said Beseda. "We required a solution to match our project vision of using innovative business technology to change the way products are developed and marketed, claims are administered and information is distributed throughout TMIS and the entire Toyota organization."
In a creative adaptation of Allenbrook's mainstream property & casualty software, TMIS recognized its most integral and complete solution - one that would comprehensively serve the company's business transaction requirements. "Phoenix features rapid product expansion and real time processing, all at low maintenance costs," according to Beseda. Allenbrook's flexible, tool-based technology provides TMIS with an extensive and timely implementation, as well as a rapid development path to meet growing market and regulatory requirements, she added.
Initially, TMIS will deploy Phoenix in its Torrance, CA corporate headquarters and Cedar Rapids, IA service center, much like a direct writer operation. Eventually, Phoenix will be deployed in the field, providing TMIS with advanced Point Of Sale/Service functionality, and the ability to boost product sales through Toyota dealerships, similar to a captive agent business model. "With Phoenix, we can enhance agreement and claims processing, document output and dealer tracking. We'll empower our users, reduce follow-up processing costs and improve administrative work flows, while addressing our data access and reporting prerequisites," said Beseda.
According to Allenbrook President Chuck Boodro, the Toyota Motor Insurance Services agreement is an unprecedented business and technology partnership. "In equal parts, this agreement attests to TMIS' enterprise vision, articulated in its requirements, and Allenbrook's ability to meet a progressive business plan with leading-edge technology," said Boodro. "We look forward to assisting our newest partner as it improves business services through flexible client/server applications."
