SME's Orlando '99 APEX Brings the Latest Machine Tools And Metalworking Technologies to Florida Manufacturers
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 18 -- Taking place January 19-21,
Florida's largest machine tool and manufacturing exposition opens tomorrow at
Orlando's Orange County Convention Center (Hall A3). Bringing the latest
machine tools and metalworking technologies to manufacturers in aerospace,
process industries and other manufacturing, the Society of Manufacturing
Engineers' (SME) Orlando '99 Advanced Productivity Exposition (APEX) supports
the resource demands of Florida's growing manufacturing market. More than
one-third of the approximately 150 exhibitors are Florida-based.
"Florida's manufacturing sector is key to sustaining the state's position
as a leader of the Southeast region's economic growth," said Nancy Berg, SME
director of expositions. "The Orlando APEX provides Florida manufacturers
with the resources that increase productivity and quality and reduce costs and
time-to-market."
Some 4,500 manufacturing professionals from across Florida are expected to
see exhibitors demonstrate more than one million pounds of equipment in 38,000
square feet of exhibit space (the largest-ever Orlando APEX). Exhibits
represent international product lines, featuring the latest equipment from key
machine tool manufacturers and accessories suppliers. Technology categories
include machine tools and accessories; cutting tools and inserts; EDM;
grinding and deburring; machine controls; finishing; laser systems; software
and more.
Held in conjunction with the exposition, the Orlando '99 Conference
features two educational segments. Exhibitor Technical Briefing Sessions will
highlight the new products and advanced technologies seen on the show floor,
and the Business Process Improvement Series features non-technical training on
business-oriented topics within the manufacturing enterprise.
    Exposition hours are: Tuesday, Jan. 19, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Wednesday,
Jan. 20, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Thursday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
