The DaimlerChrysler Shuttle?
NEW YORK--Jan. 14, 1999--There are no direct commercial flights between DaimlerChrysler's dual headquarters in the U.S. and Germany. And the company's private jets can't carry dozens of ocean-hopping execs without refueling. So, Business Week reports, the company will start its own air shuttle in February. A rented Airbus A320 jet, outfitted with 60 business-class seats, will fly between Stuttgart and an airport near U.S. headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich., at least three times a week. In a year, the company will take delivery of a custom built Airbus with larger fuel tanks that will make non-stop flights possible.
