Tenneco Automotive and Ohlins Racing A.B. Announce Strategic Alliance to Develop Advanced Ride Control Systems


    LAKE FOREST, Ill.--January 13, 1999--Tenneco Automotive and Ohlins Racing A.B. of Upplands Vasby, Sweden, today have announced the signing of a global technical agreement to jointly develop advanced, electronically controlled damping systems, which include shock absorbers and struts, for the automotive industry. Together, the companies will work to develop cost-effective, variable ride control systems that improve vehicle ride and handling while reducing noise, vibration and harshness.
    "This strategic alliance will help formalize and focus the advanced ride control technology efforts of both companies," said Thomas E. Evans, president of Tenneco Automotive. "Our common objective is to design and develop broad-based systems that are practical, yet meet the commercial requirements of original equipment manufacturers," added Evans. Tenneco Automotive and Ohlins Racing A.B. have worked cooperatively since 1996.
    "With Ohlins' race-proven technology and Tenneco Automotive's global manufacturing and technical experience, the alliance is well equipped to design advanced ride control systems," added Kenth Ohlin, president of Ohlins Racing A.B.
