UAW and Volvo Reach Tentative Agreement

    DUBLIN, Va., Jan. 12 -- The UAW and Volvo Trucks North
America have reached tentative agreement on new contracts for UAW-represented
production and maintenance workers and salaried employees at Volvo's New River
Valley facility in Dublin, Virginia.
    If ratified, the contract will be the first collective bargaining
agreement for Volvo Trucks N.A. salaried employees, who voted for UAW
representation in March 1998.  Both production and maintenance workers and
salaried employees are represented by UAW Local 2069.
    Details of the tentative new contracts are being withheld, pending
informational meetings and ratification votes by UAW Local 2069 members on
Sunday, January 17.
