Chicago Auto Show Adds NBC 5
'NBC 5 Presents the 91st Chicago Auto Show' to Air Feb. 13

CHICAGO, Jan. 7 -- The Chicago Automobile Trade Association
(CATA) has announced a partnership with NBC 5 to feature a 1999 Chicago Auto
Show special program. The hour-long program, produced by NBC 5, will go to
the floor of the nation's largest auto show Saturday, February 13 from 6-7
p.m. to overview the hot cars and trends in the automotive industry. Many of
the station's talent including Mike Adamle, Brant Miller, Amy Stone, Byron
Miranda, Dawn DeSart and Shelly Monahan will be included in the broadcast.
"We're thrilled that NBC 5 will be an integral part of this year's auto
show," said show general manager Jerry Cizek. "The Chicago Auto Show has been
on TV every year since 1950 and it's a pleasure to announce that NBC 5 will
join us in sharing the magic that surrounds it."
"With almost a century of history, the Chicago Auto Show has become a high
profile local institution," said NBC 5 General Manager Larry Wert. "Few
events anywhere have as much flash, glitz and overall visual appeal as the
auto show. It's a tremendous opportunity for NBC to showcase a much-loved and
anticipated event for our viewers."
"NBC 5's commitment to excellence is a natural match with our commitment
to give Chicagoans the finest auto show anywhere," added show chairman Mike
Cook. "While well over a million people stream through McCormick Place every
February to see what's new in the industry, a media relationship like the one
with WMAQ-TV helps bring our show to hundreds of thousands more."
"This is a fun project that offers a wide latitude for entertainment and
information," said Cook. "We hear everyone around the station is buzzing
about this one and we couldn't be more pleased."
The Chicago Auto Show will be open to the public Feb. 12-21. First staged
in 1901, this is the 91st edition of the exposition which is produced by the
CATA. The organization represents over 800 franchised new car dealer and
allied members.
