Soligen Receives Major Quality Recognition From General Motors Division
NORTHRIDGE, Calif.--Jan. 7, 1999--Soligen Technologies, Inc. (AMEX:SGT:EC), announced today that it was awarded a Production Parts Approval Process ("PPAP") warrant from General Motor's Corporation's Motorsports division. "This PAPP warrant approves Soligen as a production supplier of aluminum intake manifolds made from production tooling that was generated rapidly by Soligen from GM's CAD files," said Yehoram Uziel, Soligen's President and CEO. "This is the beginning of a new era for Soligen's Parts Now service.""Receiving PAPP approval is a significant formal recognition by a major automotive OEM quality authority that our DSPC(R) technology, which we believe is the fastest and most direct way to create cast metal parts, has the quality and consistency of bringing new designs quickly and efficiently to production," said Mr. Uziel.
PPAP is required by major automotive OEMs for production of parts in quantities that are greater than 300 parts per order. "We are obviously delighted with this recognition, and Soligen is committed to implementing PAPP quality procedures throughout our Company," said Charles W. Lewis, Soligen's Vice President of Quality Assurance.
Using its DSPC(R) technology, Soligen is able to produce a first article metal part by passing the traditional need for tooling. It thus makes possible the postponement of the design and fabrication of expensive and time consuming production tooling until parts are functionally tested. Soligen also rapidly produces production tooling, for larger runs of metal castings, from the same CAD file. By combining three production elements -- DSPC technology, conventional casting methods and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine practices -- Soligen has created the first "one-stop-shop" rapid manufacturing facility for functional metal parts made directly from a CAD file. This complete service, trademarked as Parts Now(R), has enabled Soligen to become a singular out-sourcer for metal parts.
DSPC(R) and Part Now(R) are registered trademarks of Soligen
