TRW Names Vargo Treasurer; Announces Other Appointments

    CLEVELAND--Jan. 6, 1999--TRW Inc. today announced several new appointments within its corporate finance and automotive organizations.
    Ronald P. Vargo was named vice president and treasurer, reporting to Carl G. Miller, executive vice president and chief financial officer. Vargo, who joined TRW in 1991, has been vice president, planning and development, Automotive Electronics Group, since 1994.
    Vargo succeeds Jeanne R. Sydenstricker, vice president and treasurer since 1996, who was named vice president and chief information officer, TRW Automotive.
    William C. Seeger, who has served as vice president, finance, Occupant Restraint Systems Group, since 1996, was named vice president, planning, analysis and investor relations, reporting to Miller. Seeger joined TRW in 1975 and has held a number of finance positions in several TRW business units.
    Larry W. Edelman, newly named as TRW's director, investor relations, will report to Seeger.
    TRW provides advanced technology products and services for the automotive, space, defense, and information technology markets. Sales in 1997 were approximately $12 billion (including the BDM acquisition). TRW news releases are available through TRW's corporate Web site (www.trw.com).
