Mercedes-Benz Completes Remediation of Legacy Systems for Year 2000, Using CA-Fix/2000 and SriSoft Services for Total Solution
ISLANDIA, N.Y.--Jan. 6, 1999--Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced that Mercedes-Benz of North America has completed remediation of its legacy applications for Year 2000 compliance. The luxury auto manufacturer, based in Montvale, N.J., used CA-Fix/2000 to correct its code, with SriSoft Corporation (SriSoft) performing services on-site and at a SriSoft conversion center in California."Computer Associates and SriSoft provided the complete solution we needed for our nearly 3 million lines of legacy code, including analysis, conversion and testing," said James J. Schultz, manager of I/T Production Services at Mercedes-Benz of North America and head of its Year 2000 project. "We investigated many tools and methodologies, but the highly automated CA-Fix/2000 integrated with SriSoft services provided the fastest and most cost-effective way to make our applications Year 2000 compliant."
CA-Fix/2000 is an integral component of CA Discovery 2000, which incorporates automated solutions for every phase of a Year 2000 effort, from initial portfolio assessment through automated code conversion, independent verification and validation, and testing, to final production turnover.
SriSoft used its sophisticated testing methodology and the CA Discovery testing tools to build the regression test bed and to test the converted code, both at its conversion factory and on-site at Mercedes-Benz of North America. The technical consulting company has five conversion centers with over 500 professionals dedicated to Year 2000 compliance.
"Mercedes-Benz of North America is highly respected for its commitment to quality, and we are gratified that Mercedes-Benz has used the award-winning CA software for its critical applications," said Mark Stabler, Computer Associates senior vice president. "CA-Fix/2000 enabled Mercedes-Benz of North America to successfully complete its project on time, and extensive testing has confirmed its extremely high accuracy rate."
"With Jim Schultz's help we established a true partnership to ensure that we completed the project on time and within the allocated budget. CA provided the tools, SriSoft, and its wholly owned subsidiary SriSoft Technology Private Limited, were responsible for the analysis, planning, conversion and testing, and Mercedes-Benz of North America provided a separate LPAR for testing," said Dr. Jay Ramakrishnan, director of Year 2000 Projects at SriSoft. "Because CA-Fix/2000 is very fast and accurate, we were able to meet a very aggressive project schedule and perform testing concurrent with remediation."
