Ford's Nasser to Speak at '99 SAE Congress BanquetWARRENDALE, Pa., Jan. 6 -- Jacques A. Nasser, the newly elected President and Chief Executive Officer of Ford Motor Company, will be the featured speaker at the '99 SAE Congress Banquet in the Riverview Ballroom of Cobo Center, Detroit, Michigan on Thursday, March 4 at 7 p.m. The banquet is the culmination of the four-day '99 SAE Congress being held in Cobo Center March 1-4, with more than 46,000 attendees, nearly 1,400 exhibiting companies and a record 230 technical sessions, making it the largest technical conference of its kind in the world. With Ford since 1968, Nasser has risen to the number two position under chairman of the board William Ford through a series of assignments in the United States and overseas. Before he moved to his present position, Nasser has been president-Ford Automotive Operations since 1996. He was group vice president-Product Development, Ford Automotive Operations from 1994-96 and was elected chairman of the board, Ford of Europe, and a Ford Motor Company vice president in 1993. Nasser, who speaks English, Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese, ran Ford of Australia as president and chief executive officer from 1990-93. He was involved as the first director - vice president of Finance and Administration for Autolatina, Ford's joint venture with Volkswagen in Brazil and Argentina, from 1987-1990.
