Audi Achieves Best Sales Year in Twelve Years - Best December Since 1985 With 55.9 Percent Increase

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 5 -- Audi of America, Inc. reported
U.S. sales of 6,284 for the month of December, a 55.9 percent increase over
the same month last year when sales were 4,031.  This makes it Audi's best
December since 1985 and best year-to-date since 1986 with total sales of
47,517.
    This accomplishment marks Audi's fourth straight year of double digit
growth, 39.1 percent higher than last year's results of 34,160.
    The primary drivers of this success were Audi's A4 sedan and Avant at
3,464 for the month versus last year's 2,038 vehicles sold, a 70 percent
increase.  Audi's A6 sedan and Avant models follow with sales of 2,501 for the
month of December as compared to last year's sales of 1,701, showing a 47
percent increase.  Audi's all-aluminum flagship, the A8, rounded out the
increases with total sales for the month of 278, a 25.2 percent increase over
last year's 222 units sold.
    Audi has displayed this kind of year-over-previous-year sales increase for
47 of the last 49 months.
