The split second strategy and adrenaline rush of NASCAR(R) racing meets bumper-to-bumper with the excitement of pinball for Macintosh users.
Today, in conjunction with MacWorld, Sierra Attractions announced the availability of 3-D Ultra NASCAR(R) Pinball(TM) for the Macintosh. For fans of NASCAR(R) and family-oriented computer games, 3-D Ultra NASCAR(R) Pinball -- developed by Dynamix Inc. -- offers challenges, thrills and addictive gameplay for a MSRP of $29.95.
"We are thrilled to release this latest edition of 3-D Ultra Pinball on the MAC platform," said Kate Kloos, brand manager for the 3-D Ultra product line. "The 3-D Ultra NASCAR(R) Pinball game has terrific graphics and animations that are beautiful on the MAC and the quality of the NASCAR(R) vault videos on the CD-ROM is fantastic with the new QuickTime 3 Sorenson Codec."
"3-D Ultra NASCAR(R) Pinball integrates pulse-pounding action, NASCAR(R) race cars and drivers, and easy installation and gameplay to make this title a winner for all," said Kyle Miller, designer of 3-D Ultra NASCAR(R) Pinball. "With inherently fast game-play and spectacular graphics, this game brings the best of the races to the pinball venue."
Along with 3D rendered graphics, cool animations and fast game-play, 3-D Ultra NASCAR(R) Pinball includes exciting features such as player choices from four elite NASCAR(R) drivers -- Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott, Terry Labonte and Bobby Labonte, four racetracks, actual NASCAR(R) video footage and three unique double-wide 3D rendered pinball tables.
"It's great to be a part of this game because it brings the thrill of NASCAR(R) to a new audience," said NASCAR(R) Driver Bobby Labonte. "It's a whole new spin on stock car racing."

    The Drivers

Players can choose to race as one of four top NASCAR(R) drivers
-- Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott, Terry Labonte and Bobby Labonte. Dale Earnhardt, the seven time NASCAR(R) Winston Cup Champion and winner of the 1998 Daytona 500 will be driving his No. 3 Goodwrench Service Plus car from Richard Childress Racing. Bill Elliott, who is noted for the fastest lap in NASCAR(R) racing clocked at 212.809 MPH, is featured with his No. 94 McDonald's car from Bill Elliott Motorsports. Two-time NASCAR(R) Winston Cup Champion, Terry Labonte, the "Ironman" of NASCAR(R) who has started every race since January 1979, will be driving his No. 5 Kelloggs' Corn Flakes car from Hendrick Motorsports. And finally, Bobby Labonte, who finished a career best 6th place in the 1998 NASCAR(R) Winston Cup point standings and recent winner at Talladega and Atlanta this year, is featured with his No. 18 Interstate Batteries car from Joe Gibbs Racing.

Three Tables, Four Racetracks and a Bonus Multi-Ball Event

3-D Ultra NASCAR(R) Pinball players begin on the Garage Table tuning up their car for the race. Using a single pinball, the player hits various targets to increase the performance of their car. There are eight performance enhancements: gear ratio, tire pressure, spoiler angle, camber, shocks, weight distribution, steering lock and suspension.
After the garage, players move to the Speedway Table where they can run the course and rack up points in an effort to pass other drivers and take the lead. A qualifying run determines players' starting positions. At this multi-ball table, players attempt to hit turns in order, avoid accidents and overcome various challenges and hazards, such as careening tires or oil cans on the racetrack. There are additional scoring challenges at this table with 10 different modes of play that add variety and enhance the challenge, strategy and depth of gameplay. Play modes include Chase the Flag, Accident Hurry-up, Collect the Oil Drums, Super Ramp, Redline, Collect the Tires, Catch the Flag, Avoid the Black Flag and Get that Car Otta Here. The leaderboard tracks standings during the game.
Four different racetracks are represented on the game's Speedway Table, each track offering players varied challenges. Tracks randomly represented on the Speedway Table include Bristol Motor Speedway, Watkins Glen International, Atlanta Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.
At the yellow flag, players turn into the Pit Table for a fast tune up. In the pits, players need to use skill and speed to gain maximum efficiency for their automobile without sacrificing their position in the race. The Pit Table features an industry's first motion-capture pit crew that tunes up a user's car, just as in the real NASCAR(R) races.
When a player finishes a race season at the top of the NASCAR(R) point standings, they advance to the Winner's Circle. The bonus multi-ball event takes place on The Speedway Table and gives players the opportunity to compete for the championship. This is straight, fast pinball with no hazards. The player must complete five races by hitting turns a specified number of times without making pitstop or crashing into other cars.
