Hertz' 1999 Affordable Europe Kicks-Off with Early Booking Special Bonus; Travelers Booking European Car Rentals by March 31 Receive the First Day Free

    PARK RIDGE, N.J., Jan. 4 -- The Hertz Corporation
, the world's largest car rental company, announces its 1999
Affordable Europe program.  Travelers heading to Europe can take advantage of
Hertz' Affordable Europe Early Booking Special when they prepay their 1999
Affordable Europe weekly reservation by March 31, 1999.
    European-bound travelers renting under Hertz' 1999 Affordable Europe Early
Booking Special will receive the first day of their car rental free when they
prepay their weekly booking by March 31, 1999 for rental pickup through
December 15, 1999.
    Vacationers in Germany, for example, can enjoy an economy class car such
as a Ford Fiesta, for as low as $103 per week, exclusive of VAT, optional
collision damage waiver (CDW) and theft protection.  Rates inclusive of these
options are also available.

    Flexibility and Convenience are Key to Hertz Affordable Europe
    Hertz Affordable Europe, designed for European-bound leisure travelers, is
a flexible program that allows customers to choose from three payment options
including: prepaying in US dollars; putting down a deposit at the time of
booking which "locks in" Affordable Europe prepaid rates, with the balance to
be paid in local currency at time of rental; or opting to pay in local
currency at time of rental by choosing the non-prepaid plan.
    The Affordable Europe program also features guaranteed low rates in US
dollars, as little as eight-hour advance booking requirement, refunds on
unused portions of prepaid vouchers and no cancellation charges. In addition,
once the reservation is made, vouchers are faxed to the travel agent or
traveler within minutes.

    Hertz Affordable Europe Early Booking Special applies to rentals at all
corporate and participating licensee locations and is valid on all prepaid
weekly rate rentals and all car classes in the Affordable Europe program.  The
Early Booking Special cannot be combined with any other offer, discount,
coupon, or promotion, and blackout dates may apply.
