Michelin XGT V4 Ranked Best By Major Automotive Magazine
GREENVILLE, S.C., Dec. 29 -- The Michelin XGT V4 was named
best all-season performance tire in a comparison test conducted by Automobile
Magazine. The results were published in the magazine's December '98 issue.
"We're extremely pleased -- but not surprised -- that our tire tested so
highly in the Automobile Magazine tests," said Alison Heiser, brand marketing
manager for Michelin. "The XGT V4 tire is an extremely important member of our
high-performance family and truly possesses all the features and benefits
required to be a Michelin."
The Automobile Magazine tests were conducted in three phases and included
subjective ride tests, stopping distance tests and maximum handling
performance tests on a two-mile road racing circuit. All tires were tested on
a 1999 Ford Contour SVT with 16" alloy wheels.
A total of six different tire brands were tested. According to the
Automobile Magazine story, the Michelin XGT V4 tire "showed its mettle by its
consistency," and "On the track ... was the easiest tire to drive."
