Bill Taylor Named President And CEO Of Mercedes-Benz U.S. InternationalTUSCALOOSA, Ala., Dec. 24 -- Mercedes-Benz U.S. International announced today that effective January 1, 1999, Bill Taylor will become President and CEO of MBUSI. Taylor succeeds Andreas Renschler, who was recently named head of Global Executive Management Development for DaimlerChrysler. Taylor, currently MBUSI Vice-President Operations (production and engineering), has been with the company since October 1993, and led the development and implementation of MBUSI's production system at the Tuscaloosa plant. He recently returned to the Tuscaloosa plant after a six month assignment at the DaimlerChrysler plant in Sindelfingen, Germany. "Bill has been with MBUSI and the M-Class project from the very beginning and was instrumental in developing our production system," said Andreas Renschler. "His leadership has made a significant impact throughout our operation through the past 5 years, and I feel confident he will continue to lead this great team to many more successes." "I am very excited and honored at the opportunity to lead this great team," said Taylor. "Next year will be a challenge as we continue to increase production and add product variations to the M-Class, but I know this team is up for it, and I look forward to continuing our successful tradition." Prior to joining MBUSI, Taylor was a Vice President of Manufacturing at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, Inc. from 1987. Prior to that he worked in a number of management positions with the Ford Motor Company from 1969.
