Con-Way Transportation Services Appoints Director -- Marketing Communications
ANN ARBOR, Mich.--Dec. 22, 1998--Joseph C. DeLuca, a 25-year veteran of the advertising and marketing fields, has been named director of marketing communications for Con-Way Transportation Services, a national network of regional trucking companies and related transportation businesses.
The announcement was made by Bryan Millican, executive vice president, sales and marketing.
In his position as director-marketing communications of the $1.7-billion company, DeLuca will be based at the company's Ann Arbor headquarters office and will report to Edward Moritz, director of marketing. DeLuca will be responsible for print advertising campaigns, sales collateral, direct mail and other sales support materials for all the Con-Way components.
"We're very pleased to have someone with Joe's extensive experience in marketing communications," said Millican. "His background will complement and strengthen a management team that's helped Con-Way achieve a reputation as a leader in the trucking industry."
DeLuca, 48, has broad experience in communications, advertising and marketing. This has included the creation, direction and evaluation of major print advertising campaigns, point-of-sale merchandising, direct mail, packaging, market research and customer retention studies.
Prior to coming to Con-Way, DeLuca was marketing manager for Cellular One, Indianapolis, Ind., and he held corporate marketing positions with Champion Spark Plug Co. and The Andersons Management Corp.
A native of Ohio, DeLuca earned a bachelor of science degree in journalism from Bowling Green State University and has completed graduate level courses in financial planning and marketing strategy development and implementation. He and his wife, Tanja, have two children.
