    PARK RIDGE, N.J., Dec. 17 -- The Hertz Corporation
, the world's largest car rental company has been named the
"Official Car Rental Company" for Volant Sports, leading manufacturer of
performance enhancing skis and snowboards.  Volant's skis, snowboards,
accessories and Limited Snowboards will be made available to Hertz customers
through its "Hertz # 1 Awards" loyalty program.

of Volant sports equipment and apparel to our #1 Awards program not only
enhances our popular loyalty program but offers Hertz customers an incredible

    Hertz' #1 Awards Program is a revenue-based loyalty program that awards
participants one point for every qualifying dollar they spend on each
qualified car rental, (excluding Hertz' Fuel Purchase Option, refueling
service charges, taxes, tax reimbursement, vehicle license and airport related
fees.)
    Hertz' #1 Awards Program is a free, paperless program available at
participating Hertz locations to Hertz customers residing in the United
States, Puerto Rico, Canada and USVI.  Customers must be enrolled in either
Hertz #1 Club or Hertz #1 Club Gold.
    The partnership with Volant Sports will allow Hertz customers to earn
points redeemable for any one of over 50 different Volant items including
skis, snowboards, accessories, bags, jackets, sweaters, boots, hats and
gloves.  The redemption point level for Volant and Limited merchandise ranges
from 100 to 3,200 points.
    A full listing of merchandise and redemption point values can be viewed on
Hertz' Web site at http://www.hertz.com.  Customers may view actual graphics of the
selected merchandise by visiting Volant's Web site, a direct link from Hertz'
site will connect customers to Volant.
    In addition, Hertz will be a big part of Volant's North American Demo
Tour.  The nationwide tour will feature a fleet of Hertz Ford Expeditions
emblazoned with the Hertz and Volant logos.  The Volant Demo Tour provides
skiers and snowboarders across the country, at hundreds of ski resorts, the
opportunity to try Volant skis and snowboards as well as Limited Snowboards.
Also, Volant is distributing value added-coupons for a discount on Hertz' SNO
Rate Program.  The Volant North American Demo Tour schedule may be found on

customers to redeem their awards via their Web site, http://www.hertz.com.  Customers
simply go to "Programs & Services" section on the Hertz web site and click on
Hertz' #1 Awards Program.
    Customers will be prompted to log in with either their Hertz #1 Club Gold
number or #1 Club number and their pin code.  Customers will then be able to
view their total number of points available for redemption.  After clicking on
the Redeem Points icon, customers will be prompted to the Hertz #1 Awards
Redemption Form screen.  After the selection of awards is completed, customers
must verify their profile address and shipping address.  Awards will be
shipped to customers within 3-4 weeks.  Customers may obtain more information
