Lawrence K. Fish Named to Textron's Board of Directors; Citizens Chairman Brings Financial Services Expertise
PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Dec. 16, 1998--Textron Inc. today announced that Lawrence K. Fish has been elected to the company's fifteen-member Board of Directors. Fish will assume his role upon James F. Hardymon's retirement from the Board on January 31, 1998.
Fish is chairman and CEO of the Providence, RI-based Citizens Financial Group, Inc., the third largest bank in New England with $17 billion in assets.
"Larry Fish is a highly effective and growth-oriented CEO," said Textron Chief Executive Officer Lewis Campbell, who will assume the additional role of Chairman of Textron's Board upon Hardymon's retirement. "His international background, coupled with his proven track record of making successful acquisitions, will serve Textron well as we further develop and execute our strategies for consistent growth."
Fish, 54, joined Citizens Financial Group in April 1992. Prior to joining Citizens, he held leadership positions at the Bank of Boston and the Bank of New England. Fish also served in the U.S. Agency for International Development, an independent government agency that provides foreign assistance and humanitarian aid to advance the political and economic interests of the United States.
Fish recently was appointed to the Federal Reserve Advisory Council, a key conduit of information and opinion between the banking community and the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. He is a member of the Boards of Directors of Citizens Financial Group, The Royal Bank of Scotland and John Hancock Financial Services. In addition, Fish is the immediate past co-chairman of the Rhode Island Economic Development Council, a member of Jobs for Massachusetts and founding Chairman of the Rhode Island Commission for National and Community Service (Americorps).
Fish holds degrees from Drake University and Harvard's Graduate School of Business Administration.
