McClendon Named to New Goodyear Diversity PositionAKRON, Ohio, Dec. 16 -- Goodyear has established a new position designed to strengthen and broaden the company's communications concerning diversity issues. Jocelyn S. McClendon has been named communications manager, minority affairs, effective Jan. 4, reporting to John Perduyn, vice president of public affairs. The position will have a leading role in communicating a wide range of diversity initiatives by individual business units, purchasing, human resources and other functions sponsored by Chairman Sam Gibara. "The combination of her experience with Goodyear and knowledge of diversity issues will help Jocelyn establish and maintain relationships with key minority media and other organizations," Perduyn said. "With management in public affairs, human resources and the company's business units, she will design and implement an effective communications strategy on minority affairs and issues." McClendon joined Goodyear in 1972 in a clerical position. After earning her bachelor's degree from The University of Akron in 1983, she moved into a staff position in contract administration in government sales. In 1990, she was named region manager, contract compliance, employment practices and regulatory compliance, and in 1996 was promoted to diversity initiatives manager. She is pursuing a master's degree in business management and administration from Ashland University.
