McClendon Named to New Goodyear Diversity Position
AKRON, Ohio, Dec. 16 -- Goodyear has established a new
position designed to strengthen and broaden the company's communications
concerning diversity issues.
Jocelyn S. McClendon has been named communications manager, minority
affairs, effective Jan. 4, reporting to John Perduyn, vice president of public
affairs.
The position will have a leading role in communicating a wide range of
diversity initiatives by individual business units, purchasing, human
resources and other functions sponsored by Chairman Sam Gibara.
"The combination of her experience with Goodyear and knowledge of
diversity issues will help Jocelyn establish and maintain relationships with
key minority media and other organizations," Perduyn said. "With management
in public affairs, human resources and the company's business units, she will
design and implement an effective communications strategy on minority affairs
and issues."
McClendon joined Goodyear in 1972 in a clerical position. After earning
her bachelor's degree from The University of Akron in 1983, she moved into a
staff position in contract administration in government sales. In 1990, she
was named region manager, contract compliance, employment practices and
regulatory compliance, and in 1996 was promoted to diversity initiatives
manager.
She is pursuing a master's degree in business management and
administration from Ashland University.
