Tenneco Automotive Receives Chrysler Role Model Award for 1998 Model Year
LAKE FOREST, Ill.--December 15, 1998--Tenneco Automotive has been awarded the prestigious Chrysler Technology Role Model Award in the technology category for the 1998 model year. In a category with more than 11,000 company suppliers, Tenneco Automotive was one of only nine supplier Role Model Award recipients this year.
Accepting the award at this year's key supplier event held at DaimlerChrysler's Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Mich., were Tenneco Automotive President Thomas Evans and Mark Frissora, senior vice president and general manager of Tenneco Automotive's North American original equipment business.
"We are extremely pleased to receive this award from DaimlerChrysler, and to be recognized for both our technological leadership and performance as a supplier partner," said Evans. "It is a tremendous compliment for our entire organization."
"The Technology Role Model Award represents an outstanding achievement in a company's business relationship with DaimlerChrysler, and is something a company's employees can be very proud of," added Thomas Sidlik, executive vice president procurement and supply for DaimlerChrysler.
Selection as a Technology Role Model Award winner is based on a variety of factors including: the allocation of funds and manpower for research and development; willingness to offer new technology; the allocation of resources for product development; and a supplier's working relationship with DaimlerChrysler technical personnel. In winning this year's technology category, the awards panel specifically cited Tenneco Automotive for a demonstrated commitment to emerging technologies, dramatic improvement in addressing systems issues, and the demonstration of electronic exhaust silencing technology on a Plymouth Prowler vehicle.
"The working relationship we've developed with DaimlerChrysler has enabled us to optimize our technology, experience and abilities, and to provide breakthrough exhaust and ride control systems to meet specific vehicle needs," noted Frissora. "Winning this award clearly demonstrates the value of dedicated teamwork in advancing vehicle design." According to DaimlerChrysler's Jim Tweedie, buyer for Jeep and truck exhaust systems, "Tenneco's proactive acquisition and development of advanced technologies are a key ingredient in maintaining their position in an increasingly competitive environment."
