DaimlerChrysler Names New Director of Global Exec Management

Andreas Renschler to Direct Global Executive Management Development At DaimlerChrysler
    STUTTGART, Germany, and AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 15 --
DaimlerChrysler announced today that beginning January 1, 1999,
Andreas Renschler will be responsible for global executive management
development for the entire DaimlerChrysler Group.  In this new position,
Renschler will lead the important process of integrating the international
management of the new DaimlerChrysler company.  Renschler will report to
Heiner Tropitzsch, Board of Management - Human Resources and Kathleen M.
Oswald, Senior Vice President - Human Resources.  He will also report directly
to the two Chairmen Robert J. Eaton and Juergen E. Schrempp.
    In his prior position as Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-Benz U.S.
International Inc., Renschler successfully created a multicultural management
and workforce at the first production site of a new Mercedes-Benz product
outside of Germany, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  Under Renschler's management, the
success of the new M-Class has already led to an expansion of production
capacity.
    Renschler studied industrial engineering and business administration.
He joined Daimler-Benz AG in 1988, where he helped develop profit and service
center concepts in the organizational field.  After a subsequent position with
the management board staff, he worked in the corporate planning department
beginning in 1991, where he was responsible for, among other things, strategic
development in Light Trucks Europe and Heavy Trucks Latin America.  Renschler
was appointed a Senior Vice President of Daimler-Benz in May, 1997.
